My Son’s Love Of Sport

I am the father of a superb 9 year old boy. I am keen to provide him with the best start in life and really want him to have a happy childhood. In this article I will be writing about his experiences with being involved with team sport and how it has helped him to become a more rounded person.

When my son first went to school he was some what of a shy child; I was also quite shy and quiet as a child but this was mainly due to the fact that I had a stuttering speech impediment – my son however is able to speak fluently.

I am a person who loves to play and watch a variety of sports and my son has seemingly enjoyed kicking a football around for as long as he has been able to walk. At the age of seven he joined a local football team; at this age they played seven a side. He was rather quite and shy around the other players when he first joined the club but this had been fully expected by me and his mum. When he went onto the pitch to play the game he would just change straight away and would turn into this dominating character.

As previously stated he is now nine years of age and has therefore been a member of this team for the last two years. Rather than being the quiet and shy one the football coach now often struggles to shut him up. This superbly run football team has helped my beautiful son to gain in confidence, to become a team player and to become a far more rounded person - he has also become a far fitter child.

It is a great thrill to watch my boy play football in the games; unfortunately I am not able to make it to every match as I work for a fostering agency and I am also an SEO specialist on a part-time basis.

During the last two years he has joined a further two clubs, one for cricket and one for table tennis. These associations are again aiding in his social skills and a once shy boy is now a person who is very much self-assured, happy and content. He is also not obese which can not be said for a lot of the children who are at his school.

Everything about Soccer Field Dimensions

When it comes to soccer field measurements, it is worth noting that the dimensions are uniform, regardless of the level of play. According to FIFA, the governing body of soccer, for professional events involving 11 players for each team, the soccer field must have a span of 100 to 130 yards and a width between 50 to 100 yards. Soccer fields in England are said to be smaller than that consequential to more physical games. In contrast, in South America, the fields are much bigger which provides more room and time on the ball.

For recreational soccer, playing on a smaller soccer field is suggested. By doing this, players will definitely make the game enjoyable and learning is more possible. The volume of the playing field should be proportional to the size of the player. In a large field, recreational players would waste their time running and become tired by half time. Thus, the kicks will be much longer.

Another problem of playing recreational soccer in a large field is that teaching strategies and team play is unlikely. Smaller soccer fields are most excellent for average players who are slower and lack stamina, which is usually common in 50% to 75% of recreational players.

The Penalty Area

This is the area where the goalkeeper usually uses their hands and fouls are punished. It includes the penalty spot, which is 12 yards away from the goal and the six-yard box 6 yards further from the goal. The top portion of this box includes a small arc commonly referred to as “the D.” It has a radius of 10 yards and has no purpose in the rules of soccer but merely serves as a guide for the players.

The Goal

Regardless of the level of play, the goal has a uniform measurement of 8 feet tall and 24 feet wide.

Center Circle

It divides the soccer field into two zones and is where the kickoff takes place. No player is allowed to cross their area until kickoff commences. It has a 10-yard circle within it and only the two players kicking off is permitted to stand within the inner circle.

Although soccer field measurements remain untouched regardless of the players competing, the rules of the game allows the dimensions to be smaller for female players, persons with disabilities, or those who are below 16 years old and more than 35 years of age.

EA Sports To Release a Unique Range Of Toys

Global computer animator, Electronic Arts has announced that they will be providing the branding for a new range of sports equipment created by Toy Island. The high tech “virtual coaching tools”, which will use motion and infrared sensors, are being designed for children of the ages of three to twelve which is a very large spectrum.

The various sports that the equipment will be built for is baseball, American Football, Basketball, Hockey and ‘Soccer’ or more commonly known as Football. There is even talk that they may bring out their own range of surfboards. EA Sports boss Peter Moore said that “Our goal is to take the EA Sports brand much deeper into the fabric of sports, and into new markets that allow more people to unleash their inner spirit of both sports and competition.
Considering that EA Sports are more known for their prominence in the computer animation game industry this is a very interesting development for them. It will add so much to the already large brand and is sure to almost double their profits. This new idea will also open the doors for new relationships to be carved with more local retailers and will get the EA Sports brand recognised on a much larger scale than ever before. Among the aids due to be released you can expect things like, footballs, shin pads, football boots, action figures, snowboards and many more are still to be announced.

It is understandable that EA will be looking to branch out of the norm, especially in such an un-predictable time in terms of our global economy. It is pretty wise of EA to be looking outside of computer animation and into toy making because it is broadening their profit stream. Many companies have been put into liquidation recently because of their lack of knowledge on the market. In order to help keep your business up and standing on its own two feet you will need to diversify the products in your business. This is absolutely crucial.
