The Best Isle Of Wight Places To Visit

IOW is a great place for anyone to visit from couples, families and honeymooners all looking a special time. There is a rich history and plenty of stunning scenery, and lots to enjoy on the Isle of Wight. The items on the following list are some of the best places to visit whilst staying on this lovely island.

1. The steam railway on the Isle of Wight has a world famous reputation. It is a great attraction for everyone of all ages and is manned entirely by volunteers. It is not much of a surprise as here you can see a true blue steam locomotive. If you wish to experience the beauty of the island, then I recommend a trip on the railway.

2. Go to Ryde Castle and see the interesting architecture, which is thought to have been the idea of Henry VIII. The castle was originally intended as a defensive installation to protect against maurauding Spaniards.

3. Another great place to visit is Dinosaur Isle. In the world of Paleontology, this museum is one of the best known throughout the world. Paleontologists love to come here, but it also has mass appeal to people of all ages and interests. Opened in 2001, it claims to be the first custom museum of its type anywhere in the Britain.

4. If you want relaxation then travel over to Shanklin Chine. This is a special area of the island and guarantees some tranquil moments. Here you will see rare varieties of vegetation and wildlife, and enjoy the motion of the waterfall.

5. The island is known for the speedway team, which attracts crowds from the island and the mainland as well. Some brilliant action is seen every year, by thousands of race enthusiasts.

The Isle of Wight festival and a ticket to Ryde

Get your tickets to Ryde - it is official: Paul McCartney is going to play at the Isle of Wight Festival!

McCartney, a worldwide legend, was an icon for a whole generation, giving a fresh sound to rock whilst changing the face of music forever. It began with the Beatles, and then a critally well received solo career which has spanned more than 40 years. During his career he has written some very famous tracks including Sgt Pepper’s lonely Hearts Club band’, ‘Live and let Die’, and ‘I saw here standing there’, suggesting that festival goers are in for a treat.

Paul McCartney says: “I always remember hearing such great things about this festival and it has such a sense of history with the likes of Jimi Hendrix playing there the first time round. This will be the first show that I have even done on the island, and i am so exited that I can’t wait to rock my stuff!”

The festival promoter John Giddings added: “Forty years after Jimi Hendrix performed ‘Hey Joe’ at Seaclose Park we’ve finally gotten to ‘Hey Jude’ - I’m really looking forward to it!”

Paul McCartney’s shows have reached new heights in recent years and have received rave reviews from both fans and critics. He always pushes musical boundaries like for example his performances in Russia at Red Square, in Rome outside the Coliseum and in front of the NASA space station.

The UK got a recent taste for Paul’s live show last Christmas when he bought his 2009 ‘Good Evening Europe’ tour to a climatic and memorable finale at London’s 02 Arena, his only UK show of 2009. Reviews for the show were unprecedented and proved that nobody should miss the forthcoming shows.

This special show at the IOW festival is part of Paul’s all new ‘Up And Coming’ tour which starts in the US in March and comes to the UK and Ireland in June.
