Because the size of their heads is not proportionate with their bodies, Loggerhead Sea Turtles were given as their name. These sea turtles can be found in the tropical water of three major oceans: the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian.

They can either be found deep into the sea or in other bodies of water like wide rivers and lagoons, bays, creeks and salt marshes. These turtles are often seen along coral reefs and rocky areas even shipwrecks when they are feeding.

Physical Attributes of Loggerhead Sea Turtles

Other than its unproportional large head, which holds a very strong jaw that have very strong biting power that can bite into tough-shelled victim like whelks, the loggerhead sea turtle has other distinguishing marks on its body.

Its top shell looks like a heart and has a mix of red and brown in color. Its skin on the other hand is mix-colored yellow and brown. A mature loggerhead turtle can reach up to 364 kilograms and is about 3.5 feet long.

Mating and Nesting

Loggerhead Sea Turtles reaching their sexual peak at age thirty-five. They start mating some time between March and June – usually for loggerheads found in the South-East regions of the US – and they’ll start nesting somewhere between April and September.

Loggerheads typically nest during nighttime and they can nest up to seven times in one season with intervals of approximately fourteen days apart. The average incubation time is between 45 to 95 days. This will depends on the present temperature at the time of incubation.

The baby loggerheads do not take on the colors of the adults and hence, their appearances may also vary ranging from light brown to dark brown; gray to black. Their average size is about forty-five millimeters long and they are only about twenty grams light.

Survival Risks

Loggerhead sea turtles are faced with threats to their daily survival mainly from being caught in a fisherman’s net, trawls, traps, and dredges. Another great survival risk that these loveable loggerheads are facing are direct hunts for them usually within Central America.

Although they are not yet an endangered species, these threats have caused their numbers to go down, particularly in the regions of the Bahamas, Mexico, Colombia, Israel, Turkey, Japan and Greece. For this reason, conservation efforts have been implemented to protect them from extinction as well as to look out for their well-being.

Does Church Make Model Citizens Of Our Children?

How many people recently watched in amazement as a 7 year old stole his fathers car, in a joyride away from church?
That’s right folks even I sat there and watched this 7 year old. I am absolutely amazed at how people thought this was CUTE. How can the media think this is worthy of our time if that boy had killed someone on the road?

The best church in the world, is our earth. Without water we cannot drink, without the sun we cannot grow food. Without the wind and other elements we cannot cool in summer. Animals, insects and seasons can teach your child more of their PERSONAL connection to a great spiritual being, than any Church ever will. Even if you are a person of faith, you can teach them the bible on a hill and outside in a National Park.

I recently took my sons for a morning hike up a national park slope. They were tired and complaining a bit, so we sat down in the shade and drank some water, when we reached the top of the hill.

My sons were invited to close their eyes and see with their ears. In those 5 to 10 minutes, they SAW a couple of eagles circling overhead, a bird chirping behind them, lizards scurrying around in the brush and a bumble bee collecting pollen. This was all by simply just listening.

WE talked about the connection of all living things to themselves, the animals purpose and functions. Our conversation even came down to the dung beetle and maggots, how they are earths cleaning crew. What the boys were learning was; the greater connection to their spirit and how important all cycles in life are.

If I made my children sit in church for over an hour, I can guarantee you they would learn virtually nothing. I really disliked going to church as a kid myself. Getting a 7yr old to sit still for an hour on a hard church pew, is a lesson in extreme patience. Not to mention he is fiddling with his pens, paper and looking at a fly crawl on the ceiling. Ask yourself this, Is he really listening to the sermon? I know for a fact in myself, I never really learned anything. What I can tell you for sure, I was bored out of my mind. Doesn’t it make sense then, that your child is also the same way?

Although, if you were to take your children out into nature and teach them, all the wonder created from a higher spiritual presence; what do you think they would learn now? My boys learned so much that day, when I took them out into the hills.

If you give your children an option of learning styles, what do you think they will pick? A church or the outdoors?

No sermon with some minister breathing fire and brimstone down your child’s neck, will ever teach them anything loving and spiritual. I assure you they will indeed, learn fear and mistrust of religion.

Jesus himself, chose to teach children and crowds of people out in the open. On the hills and in the meadows. He knew the spiritual value of that too. . .
